Walking
Mountains, glens, lochs and the west coast are all within easy reach of Orchy Bank.
The house is within striking distance of some fantastic mountain walking. The imposing Ben Cruachan is our nearest Munro (1,126 meters) and the highest point in Argyll & Bute. There is a small private road up to the halfway point, at the Cruachan power station reservoir, off Conan Road, by Lochawe village, 3 miles from us.
The neighbouring mountains overlook the house and garden. Just to the east is one of the Highland’s finest peaks, Ben Lui. Further afield to the north is Glencoe, offering some of the finest mountaineering expeditions in the UK, especially in winter conditions. Glen Etive, Bridge of Orchy, Glen Lochay and Ben Lawers, Ben More and Stob Binnein are all within striking distance. There are many lower hills in the area and low-level walks in glens, forests, by lochs or along the coast. For shorter, easy walks, the immediate locality offers some accessible strolls directly from the house.
